spring vegetables in carrot broth with popped quinoa

April 25, 2016 By Danielle 4 Comments

lately and often our moments are meditations on the unfurling of season. copious amounts of sunlight peer through our tiny windows, but embrace us the second we step outside. the world is alive, the days are longer, and there is electricity humming just beneath the surface of all things. dinner is oftentimes late, but the dusk is a celebration of approach and destination. our perspective is renewed, casting off the last heavy coat of an enigmatic winter. again and suddenly we are reminded by the moon that gravity is what we all have in common. and right now our gravity is spring.

as i write we are under winter storm warning (once more). this side of a midwestern spring is mayhem, but as well it is a lauded diversion from the intensity of planning and measuring. it’s within the unassumed moments that we thrive. we catch our breath, we lose it again. we muse on deep chasms of change and meditate on the small subtleties.

a little kiss of holiday chaos and the promise of new snow in the forecast – these are the dear dreams surrounding this weekend. december undoubtedly carries the greatest weight of the year – home to an array of celebratory holidays, as well the finality of an entire year’s worth of months. not necessarily a burdensome weight, but a heavy gravity nonetheless. it’s here in december that we sign the waiver for the new year – ablaze with enlightenment for the prospect of new and limitless. to recollect, to gather, and to begin again.
